O God, who taught the whole world through the preaching of the Blessed Apostle St. Paul, draw us, we pray, nearer to you through the example of him whose conversion we celebrate today, and so make us witnesses to Your truth in the world.  Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen

February

February 02 – Blessed Benedict Daswa

O Blessed Trinity, you filled the heart of your Servant Benedict with great love and zeal in building up your kingdom.  You chose him and gave him courage and strength to stan up for his faith without fear and bear witness unto death.

Loving God, like him, may I always proclaim the truth of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ by the witness of my life.  Keep me from evil spirits.  Make me a true Apostle of Life in my family and in society.

Father, through his intercession, and according to your will, grant me the grace that I ask of you.  I draw strength and courage from the life of your Servant Benedict in the hope that he will be proposed to the faithful for veneration and as an intercessor and model of holiness.  Through Christ our Lord.  Amen

February 08St. Josephine Bakhita

St. Josephine Bakhita, you were sold into slavery as a child and endured untold hardship and suffering. Once liberated from your physical enslavement, you found true redemption in your encounter with Christ and his Church. O St. Bakhita, assist all those who are trapped in a state of slavery; Intercede with God on their behalf so that they will be released from their chains of captivity. Those whom man enslaves, let God set free. Provide comfort to survivors of slavery and let them look to you as an example of hope and faith. Help all survivors find healing from their wounds. April

April 30 – Our Lady of Africa

Our Lady of Africa, mother of the human family, be mindful of your African children, at home and dispersed on other continents.

You who are full of grace, look upon all those who do not know Jesus, the Son sent by the Father.  May His light draw them and make them receptive to the gift of Faith.

You who are one with Christ in suffering and in glory, be mindful of those assailed by trials, that they may discover His liberating Passover, and live by it in hope.

You who turned to Jesus when the wine of joy ran out, be mindful of peoples in distress, that justice and peace may prevail, in a united world where charity prevails.

You, who, in the midst of the Apostles, received the breath of the Spirit, be mindful of the apostles of today.  May the announce the Word with assurance and proclaim it by their lives.  May young people hear the call of Christ and follow Him with joy.

Our Lady of Africa, Queen of the universe, be mindful of humanity on the way.  May Christ your Son, gather all peoples in the unity of His Spirit, to the glory of the Father, for ages to come.  Amen

May

May 13 – Our Lady of Fatima

Most Holy Virgin, you appeared at Fatima and revealed, to the three little shepherds, the treasures of graces hidden in the reciting of the Rosary.

Inspire our hearts with a sincere love of this devotion, so that by meditating on the mysteries of our redemption, we may gather its fruits and obtain the conversion of sinners, and the conversion of non-believers throughout the world.

May 27 – Mary Queen of The Apostles

I thank you, merciful Jesus, for having given us Mary, our Mother.  And I thank you, O Mary, for having given to the world the Divine Master, Jesus, Way, Truth and Life, and for having accepted us all as your children of Calvary.

Your mission is united to that if Jesus, who “came to seek those who were lost.”  Therefore, oppressed by my sins, faults and negligence, I take refuge in you, O Mother, as my supreme hope.  Turn your eyes of mercy toward me.  Bestow your most maternal care upon this, your most needy child.

I place all my trust in you for pardon, conversion, and sanctity.  Form a new class among your children: that of the neediest, in whom sin abounds, where formerly grace abounded.  This will be the class that will most move you to pity.  Receive my poor soul into this class.  Work a great wonder by changing a great sinner into an apostle.  It will be an unheard-of wonder, and a new glory for your Son, Jesus, and for you, His and my Mother.

I hope to receive everything from your heart, O Mother, Teacher, and Queen of the Apostles.  Amen

June

June 03 – St Charles Lwanga

Dear Lord, we thank You for the virtue and example of Your martyr, St. Charles Lwanga and his Companions. Help us to imitate the deep love for Your Church that inspired them to spread the Catholic faith  to others.

St. Charles Lwanga and Companions, you lived in a society that was hostile to the Catholic faith. Your ruler was violently opposed to Christianity. He did all he could to stop you from handing on the Catholic faith to others.

Despite the threat of suffering and death, you did not hesitate to teach others about Christ and bring them into His Church. You continued to preach the Gospel and lead others to God, even though doing so would lead to your death.

Pray for me, that I may have courage and devotion like yours.

Please also pray for (mention your intentions here).

St. Charles Lwanga and Companions, pray for us!

Lord Jesus, you know we have no faith in our own powers.  In your mercy, grant that we may be defended against all adversity through the powerful intercession of St Paul our Teacher and Father.

July

July 03 – St. Thomas, the Apostle

O Glorious St. Thomas, your grief for Jesus was such that it would not let you believe that he had rises unless you actually saw Him and touched His wounds.  But your love for Jesus was equally great and it led you to give up your life for Him.  Pray for us that we may grieve for our own sins which were the cause of Christ’s sufferings.  Help us to spend ourselves in His service and so earn the title of “blessed” which Jesus applied to those who would believe Him without seeing Him.  Amen.

August  24St Bartholomew, the Apostle

O Jesus, Saint Bartholomew’s great desire was to know the truth.  When first informed about You, his initial reaction was “How can anything good come from Nazareth?”  But as soon as he met You, he wanted to become one of your disciples.  You said to him “Here is a man in whom there is no deception.”  I ask him to pray against the deceptions that are influencing me and the people I know.  Help us to experience Your affirmation when we are honest, give us courage to resist lying as a means of self-protection, and inspire our minds to recognize the truth when we hear it.  Amen

August  26 – Foundation of the Pauline Family

The Pauline Family was raised up by St Paul to cintinue his works; it is St Paul living today - but today he is composed of many members. We have not chosen St Paul; it is he who has chosen and called us. He wants us to do that which he would do if he were living today.

Lord God, who in your love for the human race chose and sent Paul to Apostle to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ who died and rose again, grant that we who honor him as our inspirer and father, may imitate him in bringing the word of salvation to the peole of our times. We ask this through Christ. Amen

Lord God, from You every family in Heaven and on earth takes its name.  Father, you are love and life.  Through your Son, Jesus Christ, born of woman and through the Holy Spirit, the fountain of divine charity, grant that every family on earth may become, for each successive generation, a true shrine of life and love.  Grant that your grace, may guide the thoughts and actions of husbands and wives for the good of their families and all the families in the world.  Grant that the young may find in the family solid support for their human dignity and for their growth in truth and love.  Grant that love, strengthened by the grace of the sacrament of marriage, may prove mightier than all the weaknesses and trials through which our families sometimes pass.  Through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that the Church may fruitfully carry out her worldwide mission in the family and through the family.  We ask this of You, Who is life, truth and love with the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen
